The world of aesthetics and plastic surgery is constantly evolving. Some things (not all, but some) that were cutting edge five years ago may well be outdated now – that’s just the way things go. A great example of this is the new and improved “edge lift” process. Nose jobs have been around for over a hundred years – bet you didn’t know first on record it was 1887 — so it goes without saying that methods and techniques have changed very. The tip lift is the next step in this great development of rhinoplasty.
This isn’t traditional rhinoplasty – it’s a minimally invasive surgery that slightly lifts the tip of the nose, making a small but impactful change. Ahead, plastic surgeon Barry Weintraub, MD, shares more about the specifics of a lip lift.

What is a Tip-lift Nose Job?
In a traditional rhinoplasty, there are two different types: open and closed rhinoplasty. But an edge lift is something entirely different. “[It’s a] surgery that, just like it sounds, gently lifts the tip of the nose,” Dr. Weintraub tells PS. Unlike a typical nose job, it doesn’t address other things like bumps, nostril size, or just the general shape of the nose. hint.
“By manipulating the cartilage, using certain suture sequences, and forming a breast or diaphragm expansion graft, structural support is provided to give the limb an ever-so-gentle lift,” he says.
Unlike some procedures that need to be worked out or repeated later in life, a lip lift is truly permanent because “the structures are permanently reshaped and sewn into place during surgery.”
Tip-Lift Benefits and Who’s a Good Candidate
Whether you choose a nose lift over a traditional nose job is a matter of desired results. If your only concern is the end of your nose, a less invasive lift can do the trick just fine.
“Because sunken, receding edges are indicative of older people, an edge lift can take years off our face by reflecting more of a youthful profile,” says Dr. Weintraub. “The goal is a natural, understated side profile that relieves a sunken, bulbous, clumsy, turned edge.”
Sometimes, surgically speaking, addressing the edge is all you need to restore harmony and balance to the face. However, in some cases, a lip lift can be combined with other procedures. “Often, I’ll perform a facelift in conjunction with a facelift, and the impact is significant.”
Tip-Lift Nose Job Surgery Risks
The risks of this procedure, especially compared to a traditional nose job, are small. “Because the nose has an excellent blood supply, bleeding and infection are rare,” says Dr. Weintraub. This is only helped by the fact that the area being worked on and the stitches needed to complete the operation are both small.
“Excessive bleeding is controlled in surgery with an injection of a compound that constricts blood vessels,” he adds. In addition, sterilization during surgery is performed with intravenous antibiotics.
What to Expect During a Tip-Lift Nose Surgery Procedure
You will need to get medical clearance from your doctor to have the limb lift procedure. It is also recommended, as with many surgeries, that you avoid blood-thinning compounds such as aspirin for two weeks before.
“The procedure itself generally takes less than an hour with the patient under twilight anesthesia,” says Dr. Weintraub. Afterwards, you will be able to go outside under the supervision of a family member or friend to go home and rest. “[You’ll] he has sponges in each nostril and can sleep normally in bed, making sure he stays well hydrated,” she says.
The sponges, which help provide internal support for the nose while it heals, can be removed by a doctor three days after surgery.

Tip-Lift Nose Job Surgery Recovery
A short recovery time is a big advantage of the lip lift procedure — that’s because it only manipulates the cartilage of the nose. Dr. Weintraub says, “Very little, if any, bruising occurs and swelling is minimal.” For 10 days after surgery, it is recommended that you avoid heavy exercise or doing any activity that may increase your blood pressure.
To keep your skin protected, Dr. Weintraub says daily sunscreen application is essential. “In some cases, there is no external scar if the limb lift was done in a ‘closed’ fashion,” he says. If a small incision was needed to access some of the structures in the surgery, the wound closure would be done with microscopic loop augmentation. a piece of hair This leaves behind an almost invisible scar.
