Actors often come under scrutiny on social media for their looks and fashion choices. Dr. Raj Kanodia, a renowned surgeon, was trending on Reddit today for liking a post claiming to have done Janhvi Kapoor’s rhinoplasty. Khloe Kardashian, another attendee at the event, had earlier admitted that Dr. Kanodia did her rhinoplasty.
Users were divided about the surgeon violating HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) rules. The law generally prohibits health care providers and covered entities from sharing protected information without the patient’s consent, except to authorized representatives. Dr. Raj Kanodia charged with violating HIPAA
The Reddit post was captioned: “Dr. Raj Kanodia was at Ambani’s wedding – Khloe admitted to getting her rhinoplasty, but he liked a comment confirming he did Janhvi – isn’t that a HIPAA violation?’ One user responded to this and wrote: “Ok- I think lawyers here in the US would argue that a like is not necessarily an endorsement. However, I have gone to the plastic surgery office before to get a quote for myself and we are asked to sign waivers e.g. they can use our before and after photos in their portfolio. But I think the perspective is bad.” Another user wrote, “Eh, I guess they could argue that, but like you said it seems mean on his part. I would never trust a doctor who liked comments like that. Sure people can speculate all they want, but it just seems awful, especially since it’s his top comment.”

One user also said, “HIPAA covers non-US citizens who received care in the US and the comment implies a patient-provider relationship – But if Jahnvi signed a consent form for disclosure, that’s not a HIPAA violation.” One fan pointed out: “Even with HIPAA (which is the special US law) if the patient voluntarily discloses the information or agrees to it being disclosed, then no breach has occurred. The same principles apply to traditional doctor-patient confidentiality.’

Dr Kanodia had recently shared his pictures with Janhvi and reels from Anant-Radhika’s wedding. He captioned his post as, “Once in a lifetime honor and privilege to be a guest at the most memorable ceremony of the century – Anant Ambani and Radhika’s wedding. In addition to the celebration, it was amazing to connect with some of my dearest friends around the world in my home country of India.”
Anant and Radhika got married on 12th July.
