THANKS to the rise of Invisalign and other teeth straightening services, more people than ever are wearing aligners and retainers every day.
But as anyone who has worn clear aligners knows, one of their worst parts is how easily they stain and smudge.

Except emotion a little dirty, having discolored aligners makes your teeth look worse for wear, which defeats the point of getting clean aligners in the first place!
Speaking from experience, even if you regularly use special cleaning tablets and brushes on your retainers, it is still difficult to restore their clarity and shine.

Sonic Spa Pro Review
Advantages: Effective cleaning, beautiful appearance, easy to use, long-term economical compared to using cleaning tablets
Disadvantages: Noisy, expensive up front
Assessment: 4/5
The Sonic Spa Pro is a cleaning device that uses 43,000Hz ultrasonic waves (ie it vibrates noisily) to clean your dental accessories, alongside using UV-C light to ensure everything is kept bacteria-free.
I was a little skeptical about the device at first, but after one use on my Invisalign braces, I could see that the Sonic Spa Pro had managed to get them cleaner than I had been able to with tablets and a brush.
The first time I took them off the machine, they were clean and almost like new.
It is also easy to use. All you have to do is add some water to the tray, put your parts in, press a button and away it goes.
The Sonic Spa Pro has two settings: ‘normal’, which takes three minutes, and ‘deep clean’, which takes five.
In testing, I opted for ‘deep clean’ as I tended to put my retainers on when I woke up and then forget about them until the evening when I rinsed them off and used them again.
Because it uses UV-C light, the Sonic Spa Pro should also do a decent job of disinfecting your dental accessories (not something I’m worried about, I just want my retainers to not look dirty!) and is also designed for use in dentures, mouthguards, toothbrush heads and more.
As an added bonus, the device is not bad to look at. it lives happily on the edge of my chest of drawers and wouldn’t look out of place in a bedroom.

As for the cons, there are a few things to contend with with the Sonic Spa Pro.
First of all, it’s very noisy and you’d definitely prefer not to be in the room when it’s running.
Secondly, at the time of writing it costs £79, which is a bit expensive when you can just buy 96 sterilization tablets for under one container.
That being said, over a fairly long period of time, you will end up saving money from repeatedly buying cleaning tablets.
Considering that wearing night retainers indefinitely after completing Invisalign is highly recommended, you may end up saving money sooner than you think.
Plus, popping your retainers into the device and letting it do its job is far less vicious than using cleaning tablets.
Overall, I’m a fan of the Sonic Spa Pro. It quickly cleans my retainers more effectively than I could with tablets and brushes and is a beautiful bathroom accessory.
