SYRACUSE, New York, November 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — If the eyes are the windows to the soul, the nose is the foundation of facial symmetry. In recent years, one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures is rhinoplasty with minimal downtime. To change the appearance of their nose, many people have turned to non-surgical rhinoplasty using polydioxanone (PDO) threads. The benefit is a similar result to surgery, without the need for invasive or expensive treatments or a long recovery period.
Recently, PDO Max® FDA-cleared cannulated threads were used in a prospective study to demonstrate the positive effects of nasal augmentation with PDO threads on patient quality of life (using the FACE-Q scale) and first impression assessment. The result of the study shows that PDO threads alone can be safely used to achieve small nasal changes, especially in tip rotation and dorsibulge appearance, to improve the attractiveness of treated patients and improve patients’ quality of life.
The cohort study was conducted with 10 adult patients seeking non-surgical rhinoplasty and the results were published in August 2023 in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. According to the authors, each patient was treated with the appropriate size and number of PDO threads necessary to achieve optimal correction results. Two weeks after treatment, each patient completed post-treatment FACE-Q surveys and post-treatment photographs were taken and analyzed. First impression surveys were created using pre- and post-treatment photographs and the survey was completed by 146 blinded raters.
“We are pleased with the results of the study and are confident that PDO Max absorbable sutures, when expertly placed in the nose create lift and improved definition of the bridge of the nose and nose,” says the founder of PDO Max. Giovanna McCarthy. “We are committed to providing our estheticians with information that helps them adopt non-invasive aesthetic procedures using our full line of FDA-cleared PDO threads and PDO AfterGlo™ Serum and Glowpin™ microinjection stamp.”
