Former President Donald Trump has undergone numerous cosmetic procedures, including hair transplants and liposuction.
At least that’s what’s being claimed in a controversial new film about Trump’s life in the 1970s and 1980s – and experts have told DailyMail.com they agree.
The biopic, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, includes harrowing scenes depicting the real estate mogul going under the knife to shed pounds and restore his thinning hair, according to critics who screened it at the festival.
While Trump has denied these allegations, that hasn’t stopped his appearance from being the focus of intense speculation since his rise to fame.
A cosmetic surgeon told DailyMail.com he believes the former president has undergone three to five separate hair restoration procedures, and a plastic surgeon said he may have had liposuction around his chin and neck.
Plastic surgeon Dr Gary Linkov (left) claimed in a Youtube video that he believed Trump had plug grafts, a type of hair transplant surgery. Dr Linkov said: ‘If you look closely you will see what appear to be small islands of hair. I believe he may have had a procedure involving plug grafts”
Dr. Linkov also said that in 1978, at the age of 32 (right), the “architecture of Donald Trump’s hairline has changed significantly compared to when he was 18 (right). The hairline is much straighter, it’s lower and it looks less natural.”
“The Apprentice,” which was made without input from Trump, 77, depicts the former president undergoing liposuction on various parts of his body, a weight-loss procedure and a hair transplant, which removes hair follicles from one part of the body . in any balding areas in the 1970s and 1980s.
In a statement to DailyMail.com, Stephen Chung, communications director for the Trump campaign, said: “We will be filing a lawsuit to address the blatantly false claims of these pretend filmmakers.
“This rubbish is pure fiction sensationalizing lies that have long been debunked.
“As with the illegal Biden Trials, this is election interference by the Hollywood elites, who know that President Trump will retake the White House and win over their candidate of choice because he has done none of these things.
“This ‘film’ is pure malicious libel, it should never see the light of day and it doesn’t even deserve a place in the direct-to-DVD section of a bargain bin at a soon-to-be-closed discount movie store, it belongs on a dumpster fire ».
Dr. Ross Kopelman, hair transplant surgeon at Kopelman hair restorationagreed with the speculation, pointing to various aspects of Trump’s hair as evidence that he has undergone hair restoration procedures.
He told DailyMail.com: “One of the most impressive aspects of Donald Trump’s hair is its consistent density and coverage over many years. Naturally maintaining such density can be difficult…Achieving and maintaining this level of hair density often requires multiple hair restoration interventions.”
Dr Kopelman added: “Looking at Trump’s hairline over the decades reveals significant changes. In earlier photos, his hairline showed more recession, particularly around the frontal temporal angles.
“Over time, his hairline appeared lower and more youthful, suggesting surgery.”
And plastic surgeon Dr Gary Linkov claimed in a YouTube video He also believed Trump had plug grafts, a type of hair transplant surgery in which surgeons take hair from the back of the head and transplant it to bald spots, echoing many of Dr. Kopelman’s sentiments.

“And if you look closely, you’ll see what appear to be little islands of hair. I believe he may have had a procedure involving plug grafts.’
Dr. Linkov also notes the change in Trump’s hairline, both in angle and depth, saying his hairline became straighter in the late 1970s and 1980s, and his hair grew lower on the forehead of compared to photos from the 60s.
Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump, who died in 2022, previously said she had undergone scalp reduction surgery, which removes bald skin from the scalp and stretches areas with hair over bald spots points to restore hair.
In addition, former president Ivanka Trump’s daughter reportedly told friends that her father had undergone a scalp reduction procedure, according to Michael Wolff’s book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.
In a passage published in New York MagazineWolff wrote: [Ivanka] often described the mechanisms behind [his hair] to friends: A perfectly clean pate — a confined island after scalp reduction surgery — surrounded by a furry circle of hair around the sides and front, from which all the ends are pulled to meet in the center and then pulled back backwards and secured with a hardening spray.’
But in Harry Hurt III’s 1993 book, The Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump, Trump denied having plastic surgery, although he is no stranger to cosmetics, including fake tans and hair dye.
The film has not yet been released to the public and it is unclear the exact year the filmmakers claim Trump had liposuction, but photos from the 1970s and 1980s show little difference in the former president’s chin and waistline.
The film also claims that the 77-year-old underwent liposuction, which involves the absorption of fat from specific areas of the body, and Ivana had also claimed to have liposuction on his chin and waist.
Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Rukmini Rednam told DailyMail.com that it was hard to guess whether Trump had liposuction around his waist because he famously wears ill-fitting suits, but he could have done it around his chin.
She said: “It’s hard to comment on his waistline as he rarely wears form-fitting clothes, but if he’s had liposuction it looks like he hasn’t done the maintenance to maintain his results.
“It also seems possible that he may have had submental liposuction or chin liposuction, and his neckline looks more defined while his weight and the rest of his face appear largely unchanged.”

In addition to the claims made in the film, Dr Paul Tulley, plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Kensington Medical Facial Specialists, said Subway last month that Trump likely had an upper and lower blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, as well as a face lift.
Plastic surgeons have also previously speculated to DailyMail.com that the former president could now be taking slimming drugs such as Ozempic or Wegovy after he looked thinner in recent photos than when he was in office.
Dr. Shauna Levy, an obesity specialist at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, told DailyMail.com: “It’s realistic to consider that possibility that she’s taking anti-obesity drugs.”
Trump’s campaign issued a statement after the film’s premiere, threatening a lawsuit.
Whether or not Trump had surgery in the seventies and eighties, plastic surgeon Dr. Jay Calvert told DailyMail.com: “If Donald Trump has had plastic surgery, he clearly needs more. The neck needs attention. Upper eyelid surgery is needed [and] it needs a really good facelift.
