A nurse has revealed three alternatives to Botox you can try before opting for expensive injections – and they’ll actually prevent wrinkles.

Injections are commonly used to reduce signs of aging and wrinkles, but it turns out there are other things you can do for your face before you decide to take that leap.

In the clip was board-certified family nurse practitioner, Christine Tong, who ran viewers through a comprehensive list of what to experiment with.

The first thing Tong offered was to make sure your skin care routine was effective, and she recommended some products to give to her patients.
“Never underestimate a good skincare routine,” said Tong.
“One of my favorite products right now is the TNS Advance serum, it has billions of botox growth factors for my baby in one bottle,” she said of SkinMedica’s nearly $300 product.
Tong explained that it’s something she gives to her patients who are pregnant and can’t get Botox, and claimed it’s the only product on the market right now that treats sagging skin.
Of course, no good skin care routine would be complete without a retinol product, and she recommended a $140 product from the brand Skin Better called AlphaRet, which contains a retinoid combined with an alpha hydroxy acid.
She also recommended a sunscreen to complete the skincare trifecta.
A second alternative to Botox is radiofrequency microneedling, the nurse said.
“They’re basically tiny needles that cause injury to the skin, prompting the body’s healing mechanisms to create more collagen, elastin and fibrogen,” Tong explained.

“It also has radio frequency, which is heat, to shrink the skin,” she added.
Her personal favorite RF microneedling treatment was one called Sylfirm X, which can be done at a medical spa or dermatologist’s office.
And finally, the last alternative Tong recommended was a Hydrafacial, which is performed using a special machine that works to exfoliate and rebuild layers of skin.
“Aqueous treatments are my favorite treatment because it penetrates layers of moisturizing serum into the skin, leaving it plump, fine lines look smaller, pores look smaller,” Tong explained.
“It’s my favorite thing to do before an event because it leaves your skin glowing for a week,” she concluded.
Tong’s advice comes after three dermatologists shared their favorite Botox alternatives with DailyMail.com last year.
Some of their advice included using vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and using wrinkle-reducing patches like Frownies.
And, like Tong, dermatologists also suggested sunscreen and retinol.
