Benefits of Co2 Laser Resurfacing
CO2 laser resurfacing offers a number of benefits for individuals, here are 8 key benefits of CO2 laser resurfacing:
Wrinkle reduction
CO2 laser resurfacing effectively targets fine lines and wrinkles, especially those caused by sun damage and aging. The laser energy stimulates collagen production, leading to smoother and firmer skin, ultimately reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Improving skin texture
Laser treatment precisely removes the damaged outer layers of the skin, encouraging the growth of new skin cells. This procedure helps improve skin texture by reducing roughness, unevenness and the appearance of acne scars and other surface imperfections.
Scar Revision
CO2 laser resurfacing can significantly improve the appearance of scars, including acne scars, surgical scars, and traumatic scars. The laser energy breaks down the scar tissue and stimulates the rebuilding of collagen, leading to a smoother and more even skin surface.
Reduction of Hyperpigmentation
Targeted laser energy can effectively lighten areas of hyperpigmentation such as sunspots, age spots and melasma. It breaks down excess melanin in the skin, promoting a more even skin tone and reducing the visibility of age spots.
Skin tightening
CO2 laser resurfacing stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibers, which contribute to the elasticity and firmness of the skin. The heat generated by the laser energy causes collagen to contract, resulting in improved skin firmness and a more youthful appearance.
Total skin rejuvenation
By removing damaged skin layers and promoting collagen production, CO2 laser resurfacing provides a comprehensive rejuvenation effect. It can address multiple signs of aging, sun damage and skin irregularities, resulting in a renewed and rejuvenated complexion.
Customizable treatment
CO2 laser resurfacing can be customized to suit individual needs and concerns. The intensity and depth of laser treatment can be adjusted based on the specific skin condition being treated, ensuring optimal results with minimal risk.
Long lasting results
The results of CO2 laser resurfacing can last for a significant amount of time. While the procedure does not stop the natural aging process, it can provide long-lasting improvements in skin texture, tone and overall appearance.
Choosing the right surgeon or specialist is critical to a successful CO2 laser rehabilitation experience. The background, skills and experience of Dr. Dayan made him an ideal choice for me.
During my consultation, he listened carefully to my concerns, thoroughly explained the process and answered all my questions, reaffirming my confidence in his expertise.

Preparation for the Process
Before CO2 laser resurfacing, Dr. Dayan provided detailed preoperative instructions. These instructions included instructions to avoid sun exposure, stop certain skin care products, and any necessary medication adjustments. Following these instructions is essential for optimal healing and results.
The process
Under Dr. Dayan’s expertise, the CO2 laser resurfacing procedure was performed with precision and care. Throughout the process, he ensured my comfort and showed remarkable attention to detail.
Treatment was relatively quick and any expected discomfort was reduced by the use of anesthetic agents and cooling methods administered by Dr. Dayan. Overall, I would say the procedure was a 5-6 on the pain level, but it is a quick manageable procedure!
Post-treatment care
It is important to note that the healing process after CO2 laser resurfacing is unique to each individual. Dr. Dayan and his team provided me with comprehensive post-operative care instructions, including the application of topical ointments, sun protection measures and a gentle skin care routine.
In addition, they scheduled regular follow-up appointments to monitor my progress and address any concerns.
Aftercare Tips: Based on my personal experience, here are some helpful tips for the aftercare period after CO2 laser resurfacing (as always follow your provider’s instructions):
- Hand fan: To relieve the initial feeling of heat after treatment, a hand fan can provide soothing relief during the first few hours after the procedure.
- High sleep: Sleeping propped up with pillows from the back can reduce swelling. Consider covering your pillow with an old pillowcase to protect it from any ointments.
- Aquaphor: Apply Aquaphor about three to four times a day for the first five days. Using one mask application can facilitate the application process and ensure cleanliness.
- Clean Skin Club: I prefer to use Club Clean Skin towels instead of cotton towels. They are highly absorbent and do not harbor bacteria like wash cloths.
- Vinegar Soaks: This for me was optional but helpful, vinegar soaks can provide relief during the first three days. Mix a teaspoon of vinegar with a cup of cold filtered water, saturate clean leather cloths and apply to the skin for 10 minutes. Follow with Aquaphor.
- Stay busy at home: Plan to stay at home during the initial treatment period. Use this time to organize your environment and engage in activities that do not require exposure to the sun.
- Trust the procedure: Peak skin recovery usually occurs approximately 48-72 hours after the procedure. After this time, the skin will gradually peel off, indicating progress. Trust the healing process and avoid rushing or expecting immediate results.
- After five days, I stopped using Aquaphor and switched to Cetaphil. I relied on Cetaphil for the next five days until I reintroduced my trusty gentle cleanser.
RED LIGHT THERAPY
Once fully healed and cleansed, I introduced a Red Light mask into my daily routine to continue the results and improvements. I did A LOT of research and found this mask to be the absolute best!

Cost
The average cost for CO2 laser resurfacing is $3,000-$4,000 depending on the area treated and the depth. The reason behind its value lies in its effectiveness. This treatment goes beyond just the surface level, reaching deep into the skin to address a wide range of concerns.
Effectively treats fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and sun damage, revealing smoother, younger-looking skin. Enables targeted treatment, minimizing downtime and maximizing results.
With CO2 laser resurfacing, you can achieve significant and long-lasting improvements in the texture and appearance of your skin in usually just one treatment, making it a cost-effective option for those looking for noticeable transformations.
My 7 day process
Below are my pictures from day 1, 3, 5 and 7 after the CO2 Laser!
Protect your skin
Strictly avoid sun exposure for the first week after CO2 laser resurfacing. Incorporate diligent use of sunscreen and sun protection measures into your routine when outdoors.
Patience is the key
The healing journey after CO2 laser resurfacing requires patience. Although noticeable improvements may be seen in the first few weeks, full skin rejuvenation may take several months.
Dr. Dayan emphasizes the importance of realistic expectations and advises against rushing the healing process!
My Skin 2 Weeks Post Co2 Laser Treatment
I am now 2 weeks post Co2 Laser Resurfacing. Here are some changes I have noticed in my skin so far!
Softer texture
I notice that my skin has already improved in texture, with reduced roughness and fine lines.
Reduced Pigmentation
The pigmentation around my lower cheeks has faded and I can notice a visible glow in my sun spots.
Improved tone and uniformity
Overall, my skin tone appears to be more even, with a reduction in redness, blemishes or discoloration.
Collagen stimulation
The CO2 laser treatment stimulates collagen production and after two weeks, I begin to notice the initial signs of improved skin elasticity and firmness.
Ongoing Treatment
It is important to note that while most of the visible healing occurs within the first two weeks, the skin will continue to heal and improve over the following weeks and months!
That’s why it’s so important to follow aftercare instructions and protect your skin from sun exposure during this time.
Maintenance of long-term results
To ensure the longevity of the results achieved through CO2 laser resurfacing, Dr. Dayan recommended maintaining a healthy lifestyle, diligently practicing sun protection, and following a proper skin care regimen.
I plan to stick to these habits to maximize the benefits of the procedure and maintain healthier, younger looking skin.
