INTRODUCING ZIONSVILLE’S PROSTHETIC, PERIODONTICS, RESTORATIVE AND COSMETIC SPECIALISTS
Mariana Mambrini Soldatelli, DDS
For Dr. Soldatelli, the practice of dentistry comes naturally. Her mother and younger sister are orthodontists in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where Dr. Soldatelli (Novo Hamburg, Rio Grande do Sul). She currently resides in Carmel with her family. Her husband is a faculty member at the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
“I graduated [ULBRA-RS School of Dentistry in Brazil] in 2006, I completed a master’s program in prosthetics in 2008, and my mother and I worked together until 2017 in the same practice,” said Dr. Soldatelli. “I did my residency from 2019 to 2022, completed the national boards and exams to get my license, and now, I’m working in private practice with Dr. Justin Villanueva”.
The expertise of Dr. Soldatelli in prosthetics and skills in reconstructing complex dental issues, along with her expertise in restorative and replacement procedures such as crowns, bridges, dentures and
implants ensure functional and aesthetic excellence, while improving overall quality of life and creating transformative smiles with confidence.
Justin J. Villanueva, DMD, MSD, DHL
Similar to Dr. Soldatelli, dentistry is a family affair for Dr. Villanueva. He comes from a long line of dentists starting with his grandfather who was from the Philippines and practiced in the Philippines. Specializing in periodontics, Dr. Villanueva focuses on maintaining the health of the gums and the supporting structures of the teeth.
By offering cutting-edge treatments like LANAP for gum disease, it ensures a strong oral foundation while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your smile with personalized attention.
“Growing up, I either wanted to go into dentistry like my dad, aunts, uncles and grandfather, or join the military,” Dr. Villanueva said. “I decided to go to dental school and during my first semester 9/11 happened. So I enlisted and was in the US Army for four years. I was once out of [military] service, I went back to dental school.”
While attending dental school, her father Dr. Villanueva died unexpectedly and inherited his father’s private practice. Dr. Villanueva completed his residency in periodontics at the Indiana University School of Dentistry before opening his private practice in Indiana. Dr. Villanueva married his high school sweetheart and eventually moved their family from the Chicagoland area to Zionsville, where they have lived since 2016.
With two additional practices in Lafayette and South Bend, IN, Dr. Villanueva is excited to expand his boutique practice, opening in mid-March Zionsville.
QUALITY VERSUS QUANTITY
Both Dr. Villanueva as well as Dr. The Soldatellis shared that they spend more time with their patients because they are typically referred to their office by general dentists for more complex cases that require periodontal and prosthodontic expertise. Doctors also emphasized that this is the greatest advantage of existence
both specialties in the same practice.
“I feel like we operate our practices very differently than a typical office,” said Dr. Villanueva. “I only see six patients a day and I do that on purpose because I never want people to rush through an issue. Especially in my specialty, most people don’t know they have a problem or are referred for it when they don’t have many symptoms. So there are a lot of questions and I need the time to explain a lot of information. My consultations usually last from one to two hours.”
Dr. Soldatelli added, “Sometimes a patient will come in with toothache and it’s just a single tooth that needs to be treated, but sometimes it’s not just that tooth that’s causing the problem, but there’s an underlying problem. For me, I can see six to seven patients a day, but sometimes, the treatment process for prosthetics takes a little longer and I might only see one or two patients a day because they require a lot of attention and a lot more complicated work to be done.”
Dr. Villanueva and Dr. Soldatelli prioritizes the well-being and satisfaction of their patients, striving to create a welcoming, supportive environment where individuals feel valued and heard.
With their compassionate approach to care, they take the time to understand each patient’s unique concerns, preferences and goals. By encouraging open communication and trust, doctors ensure that their patients are actively involved in their treatment decisions and feel empowered throughout their dental journey. Whether they are dealing with dental issues or simply providing guidance and support, Dr. Villanueva and Dr. Soldatelli is dedicated to providing patient-centered care that exceeds expectations.
THE IMPORTANCE OF PERIODONTAL AND DENTAL HEALTH
Periodontal and prosthetic health is vital for a number of reasons. First, periodontal health, which consists of the gums and supporting structures of the teeth, is essential to maintaining the stability and longevity of the dentition. Periodontal diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis can lead to gum inflammation, tissue damage and eventual tooth loss if left untreated. Therefore, maintaining healthy gums through regular dental hygiene and professional care is vital to maintaining oral function and aesthetics.
Similarly, prosthetic health focuses on restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth to improve function, aesthetics and overall quality of life. Prosthetic interventions such as dental implants, crowns, bridges and dentures help people regain the ability to chew, speak and smile with confidence. By addressing tooth loss or structural abnormalities, prosthetic treatment promotes oral health and prevents further complications associated with dental problems.
Overall, both periodontal and prosthetic health play an integral role in maintaining optimal oral health and wellness. By prioritizing regular dental checkups, practicing good oral hygiene practices, and seeking early treatment for any dental problems, individuals can maintain their smile and enjoy a healthy, functional mouth for years to come.
