What I love about Lumineux teeth whitening strips
The whitening strips I’ve tried in the past have left a pretty bad taste in my mouth, causing me to spit out the build-up of saliva every minute. However, with the Lumineux teeth whitening strips, I did not have this problem. As I mentioned earlier, sensitivity was at the top of my mind when testing this product. I wasn’t looking forward to days of toothache when I drank cold water and ate hot food, but luckily I had no problems. After my first treatment, I had soup for lunch and had almost no sensitivity. The brand suggests placing the top and bottom strips one at a time to secure them to your teeth. If you’re having trouble getting them to stick, try wiping your teeth with a cloth to make sure they’re dry beforehand. You may want to cut them into smaller shapes if you have a smaller mouth, but they fit the contours of my teeth perfectly. I also have a permanent retainer on my lower teeth and the band stayed in place the whole time.
According to Lumineux, you’re supposed to leave the strips on for 30 minutes, so I set a timer on my phone and went about my business answering emails. I honestly forgot it was even in my mouth until my alarm reminded me. This just goes to show how great these strips are – I didn’t have a funky taste in my mouth, feel the strips slip, or even notice any sensitivity. When I removed the strips, I had a lot of the gel-like product stuck to the front of my teeth, so I grabbed some toilet paper, rubbed it, and then brushed my teeth. You can also probably rinse your mouth out with water, but I wanted to make sure I got everything nice and clean.
In terms of treatment frequency, Lumineux says you can apply the strips every day for seven days, then continue with once or twice a week to keep up with maintenance.
What to consider before trying Lumineux teeth whitening strips
As someone with sensitive teeth myself, I can attest to this treatment must they work for most people. That being said, if you know you are prone to sensitivity, I would recommend starting with a shorter treatment time and working up to the recommended 30 minutes.
It’s also worth noting that if you’re looking for an option that you can use on the go, this might not be your best bet. I only say this because of my experience with removing the strips and the fact that there was still residue on my teeth that needed to be brushed. However, if you have access to a toothbrush or even some water, go for it. And yes, I definitely plan on using these when I get married (my fiance tried them too and loved them).
