Crushing a cooking ingredient rich in an essential mineral could help grow longer dots, according to a hair transplant surgeon.
Dr. Matee Rajput shared several unconventional home remedies that have impressed people who wanted to grow their hair.
Dr. Rajput is a UK-based hair transplant surgeon and surgical director at KSL Clinic.
Speaking to the US Sun, he shared four little-known tips for boosting hair growth.
MOISTURIZING MASK
Dr. Rajput said many people have had beneficial experiences with home remedies despite the lack of scientific evidence.
Eggs are commonly used in hair care at home and can be mixed with other cooking for impressive results.

“Egg yolk is rich in proteins and fats that nourish the hair, while olive oil provides moisture and strength,” she said.
“Mix one or two egg yolks with a tablespoon of olive oil and apply the mixture to your scalp and hair.
Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water and a mild shampoo.
MINERAL MASSAGE
An ingredient known for its strong smell boasts a mineral that could work wonders for longer locks.
“Garlic contains high levels of sulfur and selenium, which are believed to help strengthen hair and promote hair growth,” she said.
“Crush a few cloves of garlic and soak them in warm olive or coconut oil for a few hours or overnight.
“Drain the oil and massage into your scalp, leaving it on for an hour before rinsing.”
HAIR STIMULATOR
Dr. Rajput suggested mixing two natural ingredients to nourish the scalp, creating the perfect environment for hair growth.
“Aloe vera soothes the scalp, reduces dandruff and conditions the hair,” she said.
“Castor oil is known for its high content of ricinoleic acid, which can promote hair growth.
These unconventional methods may not have much scientific backing, but many people have found them beneficial through personal experience.

“Mix equal parts aloe vera gel and castor oil, apply to scalp and hair and leave on overnight.
“Wash it the next morning with a gentle shampoo.”
BOTANICAL HACK
Each of the home remedies should be tested on a small patch of skin to avoid any allergic reactions.
Dr. Rajput revealed that herbal tea can enhance hair growth when applied topically rather than when drunk.
“Green tea is rich in antioxidants, particularly epigallocatechin (EGCG), which can help stimulate hair follicles and encourage growth,” she said.
“Make a strong cup of green tea, let it cool and use it as a final rinse after bathing.
“Leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water.”
