These days, there are more than a few lasers available to treat a variety of skin concerns—whether you’re dealing with pigmentation, texture, fine lines and wrinkles, or simply want to address laxity and firmness. One such treatment, Clear + Brilliant, has gained popularity in recent years as a mild and entry-level treatment for those looking to gently tackle the early signs of aging. We got the scoop from Lisa Goodman, PA, Founder GoodSkin Clinics for everything you need to know about Clear + Brilliant before you try. Read below.
What is Clear + Brilliant and what does the laser do? How is it different from other lasers?
Clear + Brilliant uses fractional laser technology to address and prevent early signs of skin aging with minimal downtime, especially compared to other lasers. It’s a fairly gentle treatment, according to Goodman, who says, “It works by creating millions of tiny healing zones in the upper layers of the skin, which replaces damaged skin with healthy tissue and delivers youthful-looking skin. At GoodSkin, we often combine this treatment with laser with other lasers to effectively treat clients who have multiple skin problems.”
What is the difference between Clear + Brilliant and Clear + Brilliant Permea?
Goodman explains that Clear + Brilliant Permea is an ideal treatment for melasma and difficult skin pigmentation issues. “The Clear + Brilliant Permea hand treatment is optimized for improved skin tone and texture and to enhance the skin’s permeability to skin care products after treatment. By creating millions of tiny treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin, damaged skin is replaced with emerging healthy tissue and youthful skin,” he explains, adding that it is often combined with other lasers for maximum effectiveness with less downtime.
Who is the best candidate for Clear + Brilliant?
Clear + Brilliant is a great choice for those with mild signs of aging, fine lines, uneven skin texture and those also looking for anti-aging preventative measures. However, Goodman advises, “People with significant skin problems, such as deep acne scars or deep wrinkles, will likely need other methods to achieve results.”
How is the recovery?
Recovery from Clear + Brilliant is generally mild, Goodman says. “Your skin may feel like sandpaper for a few days.”
How should one care for the skin after Clear + Brilliant?
“As for aftercare, I recommend the sunscreen, EGF (which can be found at RMÈD Radiance and Renewal) which is fantastic at helping with repair, LED (I love Celluma) and generally keeping your skin hydrated.”
Are there any treatments you can do alongside Clear + Brilliant?
Simply put, yes. All patients should review their goals with their physician in order to best decide which other treatments to pursue with Clear + Brilliant. “At GoodSkin, we prefer to integrate Clear + Brilliant with other treatments to maximize results,” says Goodman. “For example, the RMÉD by GoodSkin Signature Bio-Stim Treatment combines Clear + Brilliant with IPL, epidermal growth factors, oxygen peeling, ultrasound, lymphatic massage and liquid nitrogen to stimulate collagen synthesis and enhance tone and the texture of the skin”.
