Background
A New Orleans native, Dr. Raggio completed medical school at LSU and his surgical residency at Tulane. Interested in further improving his skills in Rhinoplasty and Facial Rejuvenation, he pursued advanced training in Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Toronto. He credits this experience with broadening his experience.
“I had a multicultural surgical experience in Toronto—very different cases. This really prepared me to care for patients of all nationalities, comfortable operating on faces and noses of all shapes and sizes. More than that, there were advanced techniques and technologies that I really wanted to bring back to the South.”
With family in New Orleans and Dallas, Dr. Raggio and his wife Kristin did not initially intend to move their practice to Birmingham, but after visiting the Homewood and Mountain Brook area, they quickly fell in love with the charming allure that is Birmingham. community. Finding it to be a great area to put down roots in their business and raise a family, they decided to make the move. Through Raggio MD, they can offer their new community something exciting and unprecedented in facial aesthetics.
Specialization
What is unique about Dr. Raggio is that his practice focuses exclusively on plastic surgery of the face, neck, nose and eyes. By honing one area of the body, he was able to improve and perfect his skills. An expert in the field, the expertise of Dr. Raggio in rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation attracts patients from all over the region.
“Because I only specialize in the face, I can offer these more advanced techniques that many patients want. For example, a facelift technique is something called a deep plane technique. We can reposition deeper tissues, contour deeper structures, and it essentially equates to a more natural, longer-lasting result. It’s technically more demanding, but the results are amazing.”
Although new to the Birmingham area, Dr. Raggio is not new to the field of Plastic Surgery. He has performed hundreds of rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation cases over the past few years, working in a hospital as the only Facial Plastic Surgeon within a 90 mile radius. He credits that experience, along with his uniquely diverse education in New Orleans and Toronto, with his ability to take on almost any situation.

“I think the biggest thing people need to know is that I’m not getting the same rhinoplasty I did two years ago, let alone two months ago. I think patients appreciate that passion for perfection.”
