Community impact sat down with Dr. Ensley, certified orthodontist, and Dr. Garby, a board-certified dental public health specialist, to discuss their vision, mission, what makes their work so rewarding, and the services they offer.
How did you first get involved in your practice?
Dr. Garbi: I have been practicing dentistry for 20 years. I have a patient-centered and compassionate approach to providing dental care. I consider individuals’ backgrounds, wants and needs and respect their beliefs, concerns and priorities. A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to have my own practice so that I could have complete autonomy and be able to treat my patients the way I always wanted to. I spend a lot of time educating my patients at the chairside so they understand the importance and urgency of the treatments they need, without feeling pressured to make big decisions right away.
Dr Ensley: I had braces as a teenager and getting a new smile gave me so much confidence that I decided I wanted to make a career of helping people smile. I also wanted to serve my country, so I served for seven years as an Army orthodontist. When I got out of the military, we moved back to Austin, where my wife grew up. I wanted to create a practice that made people feel special and cared about, so Dr. Garby and I started Celebrate together.
What is the overall mission of Celebrate Dental & Braces?
Dr. Garbi: We celebrate smiles. I do a lot of minimally invasive smile makeovers. It’s amazing to see how a smile can change in an hour or so. People come in with broken or discolored front teeth, unhappy with their smile. In many of these cases, I can change the shape and shade of their teeth in one session and they walk out with a big smile on their face. I think everyone should feel proud of their smile.
Dr Ensley: I use part art and part science to create beautiful smiles. When people receive high-quality care they can afford, when it’s easy to get a smile they’re proud of, and when they have a great in-office experience, they ultimately feel more confident. This is something worth celebrating.
What Services offered at Celebrate Dental & Braces?
Dr. Garbi: We do everything including:
What are some of your proudest accomplishments?
Dr Garby:
On October 7th, I took the pledge and was welcomed into the Pierre Fauchard Academy as a new partner. This award was in recognition of my outstanding performance, integrity, leadership and service over the past 20 years. The scholarship at the Pierre Fauchard Academy extends to less than 3% of dentists internationally and is designed to honor ethical dentists with significant achievements in the field of dentistry. Fellows are selected based on contributions to dental research, service to the profession, and service to the general community.
Dr Ensley: I am very proud to have achieved my board certification as an orthodontist. Only about half of orthodontists are board certified, and there are very few practicing in South Austin. I am very proud of my family though. I have a wonderful wife and four wonderful children. They motivate me to always do the best for the families in my practice.
What makes your practice stand out?
Dr. Ensley: We make easy, in-house payment plans for people. We see children and adults of all ages for braces and Invisalign. We strive to make dental and orthodontic visits easy and convenient for patients. We have convenient hours, including late afternoons and Saturdays by appointment. You can’t beat the combination of quality, convenience and affordability. Our patients think we stand out because of our friendly service.
What is the most rewarding part about being in this industry?
Dr. Garbi: For me, it takes away pain, infection and discomfort and restores smiles in one visit, which makes people emotional sometimes. Whether it’s pain or a lack of confidence, I can help my patients and I can see the relief on their faces immediately.
Dr Ensley: For me it is definitely transformation. Taking someone who is embarrassed by their smile and transforming their smile into something they love, are proud of and give them confidence when they smile. This is incredibly rewarding.
