The BoysErin Moriarty – who plays Starlight – has faced accusations that she’s had plastic surgery in recent years, but how has she dealt with the backlash?
Some have suggested that the actress has undergone nose, jaw and eyelid reshaping surgery, facial fat removal and breast augmentation.
The topic of plastic surgery has long been a controversial topic, especially among celebrities. Many share the belief that an enhanced appearance can give a false image of beauty or set a bad example for younger girls.
Erin Moriarty’s plastic surgery claims explained
Speaking of The Megyn Kelly Showthe honorary host described what Erin Moriarty once was “Nice, beautiful, natural girl.” Compare The Boys actress in a newer image, expressing shock that the image was not “a person created by AI” and adding, “She has done this to herself.”
Kelly went as far as Moriarty’s supposed altered appearance, going so far as to call her out “sign of mental illness:”
“She has Kim Kardashian lips, she’s made her nose so thin, it looks like a pencil now… I find that a sign of mental illness.”
The comments prompted Moriarty to announce that she was getting one “extensive, if not permanent” hiatus from Instagram in January 2024 with an emotional and since-deleted post (via Entertainment Weekly).
“This is something I really never expected to write. Everyone is subjected to levels of bullying throughout our lives, but I’m terrified and I felt I deserved to take a second to address these things… To get a message out about a disgustingly fake, counterproductive to the point of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the way – learning the widespread nature of this has horrified me.”
He also stated how Megyn Kelly’s comments are a “prime example of such harassment” received regarding plastic surgery complaints:
“I am appalled by the backlash, the reductive assumptions and the aforementioned video which is a prime example of such harassment. It has broken my heart. You broke my heart.”
Moriarty spoke about cyberbullying in June 2024 with The New York Times about his time The Boys Season 4 premiere. The actress had explained how while she was once “heartbroken” from the comments that are now “galvanized:”
“I had left it in a note saying specifically that I was upset by the comments. Now, I’m not heartbroken. I am galvanized.”
The Starlight actress’ improved mindset may explain why she has since removed her post reacting to Kelly’s comments and returned to using social media.
Doctor Gary Linkov, who is a licensed practitioner in the US and creates related online content, published a plastic surgery analysis of Moriarty on YouTube.
In the video, Linkov reviewed images of Moriarty over the years and noted the physical changes along “Someone injected botox into the forehead” around 27, just two years ago.
He also pointed out a “softer ridge or bridge on her nose” in more recent photos, suggesting he may have “Some work advice.”
Turning attention to images around 28, Linkov noted “some signs of upper blepharoplasty” – the removal of excess fat or skin from the eyelids.
Its first three episodes The Boys Season 4 is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Episode 4 premieres Thursday, June 20 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.
